The Countdown Begins

Happy Monday, everyone! Here we are, 7 days until the release of my 9th novel, THE SOCCER PLAYER AND THE SINGLE MOM. To help pass the time (because the week before release day is always a nail biter for me!) I’m doing a “Meet the Characters” event. Each day, I’ll be introducing you to one of the characters from the book, and sharing a sneak peek with them in it.

So here we go… 7 days and counting …

Excerpt from THE SOCCER PLAYER AND THE SINGLE MOM: Lauren and Felicity

“So, back to Stinson,” said Lauren. “They just…closed? No warning, no severance packages, no nothing?”

“That shouldn’t be legal. People have families to raise. Bills to pay.”

Felicity took a long drink from her glass, grimacing at the small fire it lit in her throat. “Tell me about it.”

“Those bastards. You guys should go after the CEO, sue him for all he’s worth.”

“Right, like we’ll ever see another cent from there.”

“Damn.” Lauren sighed. “Well, then, it’s good you’ve been saving up for the deposit on that rental house. I know you hate the duplex, but there’ll always be another—”

“My savings are gone. I put the deposit down on Saturday.”

“Yep. Five hundred bucks, spent two days too early.” Saying it out loud made her want to throw up. That kind of money would have given her a modest cushion while she searched for another job. Enough of a cushion she could have walked away from J.B.’s offer without looking back. “Darn it, why couldn’t they at least have given us some notice? And now Dr. Bedi suspects Tyler’s headaches are from him squinting. That means a trip to the eye doctor and possibly glasses. I’m bleeding money right now.”

“Then I guess it was just meant to be.”

“What was?”

Lauren grinned over the rim of her glass. “You, working as the personal assistant to hottie Scott Gillie.”

“Whatever. And he’s not that hot.” It was a lie, of course. The widening grin on her cousin’s face said she knew it, too.

“Sorry, Fee, but I already Googled him. He’s totally hot, and there’s absolutely no shame in admitting that. Wikipedia said he’s single, too.”

“Of course he’s single. If the guy was married, they wouldn’t need me to do his bidding.”

“Well, then, lucky for you he isn’t.”

~~THE SOCCER PLAYER AND THE SINGLE MOM, releasing 3/11/19 from Entangled Publishing.~~

For most women, working for a sexy soccer star would be a dream come true. All except single mom Felicity Shaw. She has no interest in playing personal assistant for a stubborn, injured playboy—no matter how nice his abs are. But with bills piling up and mouths to feed, she can’t say no to the job.

That’s when it gets interesting.

The last thing Scott Gillie wants or needs is a persistent and entirely too distracting PA while he’s recuperating in his small hometown. Unfortunately, it’s not up to him. Then Felicity and her son end up temporarily moving in—all thanks to his meddlesome grandmother. Now temptation is right across the hall and it’s driving Scott crazy.

His only option is to fight fire with fire.

He never expects Felicity to do the same.

See you all back here tomorrow for another sneak peek at novel #9!
