Lisa Ricard Claro and LOVE BUILT TO LAST

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since we’ve shared a guest interview on Indiana Wonderer, so I was delighted to connect with today’s featured author. Hopefully, she’ll make some new friends during her visit. Won’t you please join me in welcoming our guest of honor this week:  Lisa Ricard Claro.Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00067]

  1. Name (or pen name): Lisa Ricard Claro
  1. State (or country) you call home: Georgia
  1. Genre(s) you write: Contemporary Romance – hometown
  1. Most recent release title: Love Built to Last (Black Opal Books, June 20, 2015)
    1. Storyline:

Love Built to Last is based on the award-winning short-story, Fireflies, and is the first novel in the Fireflies series. Maddie can’t let go of her dead husband, Jack, and she’s certain he still advises her on everything, including Caleb, the hunky carpenter who’s remodeling her kitchen. When disaster strikes, will new lovers Maddie and Caleb endure? Or will they need a little help…from Jack?

  1. Of your most recent storyline, pick one character that you adore. Tell us why, and list one of their endearing traits/habits:

Maddie Kinkaid is the heroine of Love Built to Last. I adore Maddie because she’s the kind of person we’d all love to be friends with, the sort of gal pal who will drop everything to bring you chicken soup if you’re sick, who never says a bad word about anyone, and who can keep a secret. She’s salt of the Earth, and even though she’s not perfect, she’d really like to be. She accepts people as they are, foibles and all, and tries to see a silver lining in things. Also, she rescues animals, which is something I champion. Bottom line, she’s a great friend.

  1. Favorite ice cream flavor:

Coffee, hands down. The only problem with it is that it isn’t easy to find at ice cream shops. They always try to glam it up rather than just keep it simple.

  1. If you had a free day, how would you spend the day?

Does my husband have the day off too? Lol  If he does, I’d spend it hanging with him, just doing whatever. We have fun no matter what we do, as long as we’re together. If I’m alone, I’d probably write or read, because those are my favorite pastimes. And if I’m able to choose a location, then that day would be spent either at the beach or the mountains.

  1. Name a book you read this past year that you really enjoyed:

Unwritten, by Charles Martin.

  1. Give us one of your favorite motivational/inspirational quotes :

“Become so wrapped up in something that you forget to be afraid.” —Lady Bird Johnson

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing with us today, Lisa!  And I’m with you on the ice cream flavor – coffee is my favorite, too! And thank you, readers, for stopping by today. Be sure to leave a comment and say “hello” while you’re here, and read on to learn more about Lisa and her amazing new book Love Built to Last.

She can’t let go of her dead husband…

Maddie Kinkaid believes her late husband, Jack, gives her advice on everything from ordering a pizza to hiring a carpenter, so when she finds Caleb Walker’s business card on Jack’s desk, she’s convinced that he’s the guy to remodel her kitchen.

He can’t decide if she’s worth the risk…

Caleb is a single father, and protecting his young son means avoiding romantic entanglements. But there’s heat in every kitchen, and sparks ignite between Caleb and Maddie—until disaster strikes.

When Jack goes silent, Maddie’s guilt consumes her, and it looks as if she and Caleb will never find their happily-ever-after—at least, not without a little help from Jack…

Lisa Ricard Claro is an award-winning author and Pushcart Prize nominee with published articles and stories spanning multiple media. She resides in Georgia with her husband of more than three decades and counting, is mother to three (a ruggedly handsome son and two stunningly beautiful daughters—Lisa might be a little biased), and dreams of one day living at the beach. Seriously dreams of it. As in, she’s already decorating her dream beach house. In addition to an array of sand dollars and seashells, she keeps a framed sign hanging in her office: Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses Welcome Here. Lisa is also a lover of dogs and cats, and has a heart for rescues. This is why you will find a rescued pet companion in every one of her books. Sometimes they are part of the story line (Pirate the dog, in Love Built to Last), and sometimes they’re already ensconced in their forever home with one of Lisa’s characters (Pavarotti the cat, in Love to Win). As you read Lisa’s books, watch for the rescues!

  1. Ice cream coffee? Never. I lean toward some lovely concoction of vanilla, chocolate fudge, and salted caramel. Oh yeah, add a few chopped pecans or walnuts and…heaven.

    • Hi Mae – Thanks. My cover artist is Melissa Stevens at The Illustrated Author. She’s amazing. She also did the cover for book 2 (if you visit my website or blog, you can see it), and she’ll also be doing book three. I remember the first time I saw the cover. Love! Thanks so much for commenting. 🙂

  2. Great interview! Thanks, Kyra, for hosting. Love Built to Last is a wonderful book — I truly enjoyed it. And I love your favorite quote, Lisa; I’m writing it down right now. Thanks to both of you lovely ladies for an enjoyable and informative read this morning.
